GREEN MAYOR – Philippines
This is the story of a green revolution in one of the most unlikely
places. It could have been like many other cities in the world where
environmental efforts are not a part of the leaders agenda. But
it’s not.
Global warming is literally the world’s hottest topic and is
the word on the tip of everyone’s tongues. Puerto Princesa
in the Island of Palwan in the Philippines is a city formerly entrenched
in the depths of an environmental crisis. It has done a complete
180 degree turn in the past decade alone to become one of the world’s
shining examples of environmental reform. A lot of it is thanks
to the town’s "Green" Mayor, Edward Hagedorn.
